Røisheim — Since 1858

Over centuries, Røisheim has offered shelter for travelers between east and west. A stay today is a journey in history, with five star requirements for comfort and culinary experiences. The cultural heritage of the listed houses is preserved through use and careful maintenance in cooperation with the Norwegian National Heritage Board. Røisheim is open from May to September each year and is now closed for the winter. The booking is always open.

From coaching inn to hotel

The long hospitality tradition at Røisheim started as a coaching inn providing rest for travellers from east to west crossing the mountains.
Today Røisheim is a luxury hotel where where history, nature and the unique atmosphere play the main role.

Our food philosophy

When the chef rings the food bell, it's time for dinner. We serve an exciting high-quality three- or four-course dinner in the old log dining room in the main house at Røisheim.

Tage and Maja

The Host

Tage Koch Jensen and Maja Hydal are new hosts at Røisheim. Both are chefs with experience from restaurant and hotel operations in Norway, France and Denmark. “We look forward to welcoming new and old guests.

Something for everyone

Activities

Røisheim is the perfect starting point for an eventful holiday. The location facilitates outdoor activities such as mountain walks to Galdhøpiggen the highest peak in Northern Europe, cycling and exploring underground caves. At the same time, Lom and the surrounding area have a lot to offer with traditional stave churches, bakeries and museums.

A story to take care of

Cultural-historical stay in a distinctive setting

The farm Røisheim has roots back to the Viking Age and is mentioned in historical documents from the 17th century. The oldest of the current buildings dates back to the 18th century and are in the loft style - typical of old mountain farmsteads. The buildings and courtyard were listed in 1923 and provide a truly unique tranquility and atmosphere.

historic rooms and suites

At Røisheim, none of the rooms are alike and have retained the old names that testify to their former use. Here, historical ambience meets modern five star comfort — in unique small houses, characteristic cottages, charming rooms and beautiful suites. Several suites are located in their own houses and have both a fireplace and a hot tub. A stay at Røisheim is one you will never forget.

The Queen Suite

The Queen Suite takes its name from H.M. Queen Sonja who has visited Røisheim several times. The suite is Røisheim's largest and is located in the old Skolestugu. There is sleeping space for four, a seating area, a fireplace, a shower and a bath. The rooms have recently been renovated in collaboration with Riksantikvaren.

stALLEN

When Røisheim was a coaching inn, the two-stories stables were a resting place for horses carrying travellers between east and west. Today, the stables have been converted into great family rooms with a hot tub and four-poster bed.

Klesloftet

Klesloftet is one of our oldest and most charming houses and stretches over two floors. Originally, the Klesloft was a storage cage where clothes were dried and bedsheets and and linen were stored. It is in this building that the food bell hangs and where it is rung in for dinner.

"Har sovet utrolig godt i Stallen, og spist en fantastisk frokost på Røisheim skysstasjon. Hyggelig og oppmerksom betjening, god service hele veien, rent og pent. Vi fikk et veldig godt inntrykk av stedet. Det virker som om at både eierne og de ansatte legger mye arbeid i at gjestene skal trives, og det var ikke vanskelig på et sted som dette. Vi kommer gjerne tilbake."
