Røisheim consists of altogether 14 buildings in a farmyard from the 1700s –creating a unique atmosphere. Røisheim has a long tradition of taking care of the discerning, adventurous mountain tourist – whether they want to climb the peaks of Jotunheimen, or seek the atmosphere and renowned kitchen of the old, protected coaching house. It is not difficult to understand why famous artists like Grieg, Ibsen, Thaulow, and Munthe fell in love with this place as early as a hundred years ago.

After 150 years as a coaching station and hotel, Røisheim is still among the most unique small hotels Norway has to offer. Tar painted houses in a lush landscape, and rooms restored with piety. The hosts make sure that guests are taken care of in the very best way. An expedition to the Galdhøpiggen and Glittertind mountains is on many people’s wish list during their stay. But Røisheim is still a love that attracts people just by being itself – of cultural historic origins.

Among the historic buildings at Røisheim, you can also find a small chapel. The chapel is open daily for guests and offers the possibility for contemplation and meditation. The chapel can be a romantic place for small weddings.

Røisheim is located along Sognefjell Road – the highest of our mountain passes and with many spectacular viewpoints.
You can order a room og suite tailored to fit your taste – including fireplaces, unique view, traditional beds as well as four-poster silk fitted beds and a historic atmosphere, but still supplying the quality and high standard you expect.
Each room has a private bath room – some with wooden bath tubs.
A 4-course menu is served every evening based on local food – game and vegetables in session. Røisheim has a wine cellar that offers wines from different regions and varieties. A wine menu can be ordered – to suit the menu of the day.

A Norwegian traditional breakfast is served from early in the morning. Included is also a possibility to make your own lunch bag.
Arranging courses and meetings is our speciality. What makes a meeting at our places so special, is surroundings that add energy and creativity. We have meeting rooms to host 16 people and can tailor activities to the specific needs for the group. We get feedback proving that the view as well as the buildings themself inspire the participants.
Team building sessions can be arranged and include mountain expeditions with local English speaking guides.
Our place represent the dream venue for weddings. We combine tailoring with long experience. Røisheim create the very special, personal atmosphere, but at the same time the place is large enough for a magnificent wedding, with up to 46 guests. We have beautiful surroundings, and as experienced caterers for weddings we also understand the importance of details and respect the couple’s many wishes. Smaller weddings can also be arranged including the wedding ceremony in the Chapel at Røisheim.
Situated close to Sognefjellet and Jotunheimen, mountaineering is the most popular activity at Røisheim. Private guiding can be arranged. The two highest peaks in Norway, Galdhøpiggen and Glittertind are both possible to climb in a day – and still get back to a wonderful dinner.
The snow conditions are normally sufficient for skiing throughout May and sometimes the first weeks of June. Many of the peaks are possible to reach by Randonee skis or even cross country skis for the experienced skier and on foot during the summer. Summer-ski adventure is available at Juvass glacier – about 30 minutes drive from Røisheim.
