From coaching inn to hotel
The long hospitality tradition at Røisheim started as a coaching inn, providing rest for travellers from east to west crossing the mountains. Today, centuries later, Røisheim is a luxury hotel where history, nature and the unique atmosphere play the main role. Røisheim is open from April 25th to September 29th. The booking is always open.
Our food philosophy
When the chef rings the food bell, it's time for dinner. We serve an exciting high-quality three- or four-course dinner in the old log dining room in the main house at Røisheim.
The Host
Tage Koch Jensen and Maja Hydal are new hosts at Røisheim. Both are chefs with experience from restaurant and hotel operations in Norway, France and Denmark. “We look forward to welcoming new and old guests.
Activities
Røisheim is the perfect starting point for an eventful holiday. The location facilitates outdoor activities such as mountain walks to Galdhøpiggen the highest peak in Northern Europe, cycling and exploring underground caves. At the same time, Lom and the surrounding area have a lot to offer with traditional stave churches, bakeries and museums.
Cultural-historical stay in a distinctive setting
The farm Røisheim has roots back to the Viking Age and is mentioned in historical documents from the 17th century. The oldest of the current buildings dates back to the 18th century and are in the loft style - typical of old mountain farmsteads. The buildings and courtyard were listed in 1923 and provide a truly unique tranquility and atmosphere.
historic rooms and suites
At Røisheim, none of the rooms are alike and have retained the old names that testify to their former use. Here, historical ambience meets modern five star comfort — in unique small houses, characteristic cottages, charming rooms and beautiful suites. Several suites are located in their own houses and have both a fireplace and a hot tub. A stay at Røisheim is one you will never forget.
The Queen Suite
The Queen Suite takes its name from H.M. Queen Sonja who has visited Røisheim several times. The suite is Røisheim's largest and is located in the old Skolestugu. The suite contains a queen size bed, a seating area, fireplaces both in the living room and bathroom, as well as a shower and a bathtub. The rooms have recently been renovated in collaboration with the Norwegian Conservatory Riksantikvaren.
stALLEN
When Røisheim was a coaching inn, the two-story stables served as a resting place for horses carrying travelers between the east and west. Today, the stables have been converted into spacious family rooms, complete with a hot tub and four-poster bed.
Klesloftet
Klesloftet is one of our oldest and most charming houses, spanning two floors. Originally, it served as a storage area where clothes were dried and bed sheets and linens were kept. This building also houses the food bell, which is rung to signal dinner.
